CHAPTER SIX
THE FRUITS OF REJECTION
IN THIS CHAPTER WE WILL outline some of the signs and symptoms of rejection. These traits are so common among us that we often mistake them as personality traits rather than the subtle and destructive spirits that they are.
Laziness â A lazy spirit attaches itself to those who deal with rejection. It desires that others fight all of its battles. Oftentimes it overly emphasizes its troubles. Those under the influence of a lazy spirit tend to seek out protectors or defenders and give the appearance of being clueless, weak, and helpless. It does not want to get into the battle to fight. This spirit will call others all the time to say, âPray for me, help meâ or ânobody in the church likes meâ and will oftentimes not get involved because rejection has brought such heavy bondage. If there is a church-wide call for intercessory prayer, a person with a lazy spirit will not show up, but the next day will contact church leadership and request prayer. The spirit of rejection is a draining spirit that latches onto another familiar spirit and then begins to physically, mentally and spiritually drain the anointing. Example: A person who is a spiritual leech can attach himself to you without your knowing it, but by the time you leave his presence you have become spiritually exhausted. While you are imparting into them wisdom from the Lord, they have no spiritual deposits to place into anyone elseâs life. They only extract from your spiritual supply.
Lazy people consider themselves smarter than seven wise counselors. (Proverbs 26:16 NLT).
A leech has twin daughters named âGimmeâ and âGimme more.â (Proverbs 30:15 MSG).
One of them, a prophet of their own, said, âCretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.â This testimony is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith. (Titus 1:12,13 NKJV).
Self-Righteousness â The spirit of rejection is self-centered. A self-righteous spirit comes up with its own revelations to justify remaining unchanged whenever truth is presented. Self-righteousness justifies and boasts about special ârevelations from God.â When the Spirit of truth comes, self- righteousness will present a rebuttal and will research scriptures taken out of context to further substantiate its own ideas. It causes individuals to be overly critical about everything. Because self-righteous people are so affected by rejection, they look for faults with anyone moving and working in ministry while they constantly murmur and complain. This spirit does not actively participate in ministry, but appoints itself as the authority on how the pastor should preach and how the ushers should work their ministry. In their minds, they are judge and jury, deciding who truly does and does not have the Holy Spirit in the ministry.
But I warn youâunless your righteousness is better than the righteousness of the teachers of religious law and the Pharisees, you will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven! (Matthew 5:20 NLT).
â¦I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather I become righteous through faith in Christ.
